At Carfagno Insurance, we understand that not every client is a Preferred, or even a Standard risk. Many individuals have complicated medical histories, participate in hazardous activities, or are world travelers. Though these and other conditions do have an impact on a client's underwriting class, they do not impact that client's need for coverage.  Carfagno Insurance Services can help you to place these cases at the most competitive rates- regardless of their situation.
By conducting Informal Inquiries (or Trials) we can solicit the opinions of many underwriters from many companies. Then, based on the responses we receive, you have a better idea of the underwriting class your client can expect, and you can construct your sale accordingly.  Basically, there are two types of Informal Inquiries- there are Trials with Records and there are QuickQuotes.  Each type has its own pluses and minuses:

Trials with Records QuickQuotes
Trials with Records are the most detailed and comprehensive way to conduct business informally.  The offers extended by underwriters based on the review of records are typically more reliable. The downside is that the response time on a Trial with Records can be very long.  Currently, it is not uncommon for an underwriter to take six to eight weeks to review records and provide a tentative assessment of your client. During that time, there is nothing that can be done but wait! QuickQuotes are brief e-mail summaries of a client's underwriting challenge that are sent directly to underwriters. Typically, the underwriter can review the information provided and respond with a tentative assessment based on that information within a week or so- often times, within the same day! These responses, however, are based on more general information, and the underwriter's opinion is based only on the information provided, and cannot account for any information in medical records that may be collected during formal underwriting.

We have been looking for a way to service our agents better and find a happy medium between these two options.  How can we quickly receive a response from an underwriter based on more detailed information?  The solution we've developed is the Carfagno Insurance Services Trial Submission Datasheet. We've worked with underwriters to discover what information, specifically, they look for while reviewing medical records. The datasheet collects this information for many of the most common impairments and presents it in a short summary form, which can be submitted and processed as a QuickQuote.  Faster turnaround times, more details- it's the best of both worlds!
